THE HISTORY OF
DABNEY SPRING

For over 100 years Dabney Spring has been providing thousands of families in Multnomah County with the clean drinking water they need to survive.

Dabney Spring is the last source of publically available natural spring water in Multnomah County.

Join us to fight to keep Dabney Spring flowing, open for public access, and available as a free natural drinking water source for thousands of people and families.

THE TRAGIC LOSS OF OUR SPRING

Recently, Oregon Department of Transportation & the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department closed the spring water pipe along the Historic Columbia River Highway near Dabney State Recreation Area, cutting off public access to this treasured spring water fill station.

The spring was tragically shut down due to increasing road safety concerns at the site, including limited space to access the spring safely, no safety signage to alert drivers of the roadside spring, and unfortunately a traffic accident last winter.

Oregon Department of Transportation & Oregon Parks and Recreation closed the spring with no public input and no attempt to come up with a safer solution to keep the spring open.

We believe that if the public had been involved we could have come up with a solution. A simple stop sign on the road would have alleviated safety concerns, as would creating better parking, or re-routing the water to Dabney State Park, where it once flowed.
